Winter Wedding - Food, Fashion and Chill

So, unpacking bags from last trip took 3 weeks, a week over what I had planned for. But who's complaining? As that wrapped, it was time to zip-up for the next trip. This time, it was my cousin's wedding up in North India!

Akarshan and Megha, both settled in city beautiful- Chandigarh, planned a pleasant winter wedding in their home state Haryana. Akarshan is working as Supervising Manager with an automobile firm, and Megha is a Marketing/Advertisements professional. Everyone was ecstatic as the bride and groom have chosen ideal life partners and make a beautiful looking couple. Akarshan, my second cousin, is very close to my family and there was no way I was going to skip being a part of his special day.

My journey to Haryana kicked-off with a 4.5 hrs one-stop flight to Chandigarh, followed by a road trip to Kaithal for Sangeet ceremony and onwards to Yamuna Nagar for the wedding function next day.

Best part of visiting North India in November are the lip-smacking desserts, chilly mornings and the sweet afternoon sun! I enjoyed all of these in full glory. I've been living in western India from past 4 years, this was the second wedding I was attending in North. Of course, I loved the experience!

Starting with food- I gorged ravenously on all dishes that I was waiting eagerly for - beautiful golden aloo-tikkis, hot gulab-jamuns, rabri topped with pistachios and almonds, and spring rolls. My heart was happy and warm. My rigorous exercise routine and strict health diet from last 6 months went out of the window, immediately. I relished all dishes and ate to my heart's content until my stomach screamed of exceeding it's capacity. I think I'm good for next 6 months, I think so.

When it comes to Punjabi/North India wedding functions, other key attractions are DJ, Alcohol and Fashion parade. I had picked a heavy outfit for the wedding function. Surprise! Surprise! I wore my wedding lehenga (heavily embroidered skirt) paired with a contrasting crop top (not from my wedding day) and embellished dupatta draped casually. It was a very heavy dress and weighed >10 kgs (approx.). I was exhausted by mid-night. Phew! The ceremony ended by 5AM.
Here's one to the newly wedded couple! Cheers!!!

Wildfire

Placing the glass down gently, he looked fiercely into her eyes, His smile fading into a thin line, his gaze pierced her sighs Savoring a sip of dark wine, she struggled to keep her nerves, Slouching deeper into her fantasy, she spilled the drink past her curves Inching closer swiftly, he blazed with passion and anxious desire, Embracing the unknown, she let his love engulf her like wildfire

Misty eyes

Feeling so trivial, sitting beneath the stars, Staring at vast infinity, abandoning the pain in her heart Dreaming of a magical place, grinning with misty eyes, Cherishing the silvery moon, winking back at the fireflies Wearing a robe of hope, bearing the cold test of time, Deafening stark silence, freezing the voices in her mind Crawling away from the shadows, drawing up a firm line, Praying for more strength, hoping for a life divine

Intricacies of Life

A thought on this matter makes me realise that, to me, my life seems no better than that of a trivial micro-organism striving to survive in the fauna. The tiny being concealed in the nodes of gravely entangled submerged roots of a vast tree. The venerably aged tree providing abode to infinitesimal beings. Its umpteen branches slightly bending to kiss the surface of water with every gentle breeze. The changing season bringing in many new forms of life, fresh leaves and flowers filling the nude branches and the rain blessing all with a refreshing ambiance. The Darwin Theory gets reinforced every passing moment too, only the fittest survives, be it life in green waters or a muddy patch. Every dweller is in a rush to grab the biggest portion of the available resource, sunlight, land, power and nutrients to not just fill their stomachs but their food reserves and their pockets as well. It stands true for every inhabitant of the pond, from puny organisms to the big fish who rule with th...
